Los Altos / Mountain View
- Event: Step Out for Pro-Choice - 37th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade
- Hosted By: Los Altos-Mountain View AAUW and the Santa Clara County Pro-Choice Community
- Description: Walk for Choice in downtown Los Altos. For over 16 years the local Catholic Church in Los Altos has sponsored a Prayer Walk in Los Altos to protest the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. This year the pro-choice majority will once again be present to walk on the opposite side of Main Street as we advocate for a woman's right to choose.

- Where: Los Altos Youth Center, 1 N. San Antonio Road, Los Altos, CA
- When: Friday, January 22, 2010 from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m. Program begins at 12 noon. Walk will depart at 12:35 p.m. from the Youth Center, cross San Antonio, continue on State Street, and return to the Youth Center via Main Street.

- Description: Celebrating the 37th anniversary of the momentous Roe v. Wade decision at a special luncheon event where local organizations will share the importance of the Roe v. Wade decision on their services, clients, and membership.

- Speaker: Keynote Address by Kathy Kneer, President/CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California. Keynote Kathy Kneer will speak about the status of women's access to comprehensive reproductive health care, particularly in light of recent attacks on access to abortion in the health care reform debate. Brief Remarks to follow by Rev. Mark Asman and Rabbi Arthur Gross-Schaefer addressing access to choice from an interfaith perspective
- About the Speaker: Katherine Kneer has served for 16 years as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC), the public policy office of the nine independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates in California. Under Kathy's leadership, PPAC worked to establish Family PACT, the nation's largest universal family planning program for low income men, women, and teens. During her tenure, California adopted constitutional protections for reproductive privacy, enacted the Contraceptive Equity Act, expanded access to emergency contraception, and required sex education in schools to be comprehensive and medically accurate. Kathy also served as Campaign chair for the Campaign for Teen Safety, which successfully defeated three parental notification initiatives, Propositions 73, 85 and 4. Prior to joining PPAC, Kathy worked for the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation for 18 years.
